“BROKEN” NEWS - CHELSEA SACK JOSE MOURINHO

Only days ago, we asked whether time was up for Mourinho, and today, we got an answer.

I just got back into town, and I read on one of the popular sports websites that Mourinho had been sacked. I was quite surprised. I called a friend to confirm whether it was true, and it turned out that the speculations had materialised. Prior to the announcement, the club directors had sat over 24 hours to discuss Jose's future, and it turned out to be this. There are so many things that can be learnt from these happenings, and we'll look into them together over the next few weeks, but today, I'll discuss one of the first things I noticed.

Different sports websites published the news in different ways, the most common being "Chelsea sack Mourinho" or "Mourinho sacked by Chelsea". One particular report stated that Chelsea had "parted ways" with Mourinho.

I read the club's full statement on the announcement, and the image it drew in my mind was that of a divorce. It is indeed a divorce. This is a manager who 7 months ago, won the league title for the club, in a convincing manner. He also won the League Cup that same season. He was widely praised for this feat, and though I wasn't a fan of his, I realised that indeed, he was a great coach and manager. But months down the line, due to an inexplicable string of defeats, he is out of a job.

How many relationships and marriages have begun that same way, with that brother and sister seeming the perfect couple, and each individual the perfect spouse? We look at their wedding pictures, and we're like: "Aww...they look so good together"; only for us to hear some months or few years after that they had undergone a divorce.

We're in a generation where faithfulness is not common; "for better and for worse" has been substituted with only "for better". There's little perseverance, forbearance, patience, and loyalty left in our society. We as children of God need to make up our minds to hold on to God and His Word to us, NO MATTER how bad things may seem. God does not give up on you; don't give up on Him.

Someone said that ultimately, it's easier to get rid of one manager than 22 or more players. Whether a change in Chelsea's managerial position changes their "fortunes", we'll see, in the process of time.

But remember that with God, you’ve made the best Managerial choice ever.

The decision might have been logically good, but not necessarily the right one.
