Jeremiah 4:30 (KJV) And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

I'm sure you must have read/heard of the man who got confused on his wedding night. He couldn't believe the woman beside him was the woman he married some hours ago. She was looking entirely different because by now, she had cleaned off all the make-up. He eventually charged his wife to court for fraud.

Such is the case with the average young lady today. You scrape off your eye lashes, only to draw it back with a pencil. You paint your face so much that one has to move very close to recognize you. Your lips are so red, one begins to wonder if you drank something or otherwise. Your face looks heavier than it was intended, causing even unbelievers to remember the Scripture that says "if the foundation be destroyed...". Those days, it used to be "tiro" and dusting powder. Today, the make-up has now become makeover.

Jeremiah says in vain shall you make yourself beautiful...because, you are already beautiful. You need to understand David when he said you are fearfully and wonderfully made. The same people you are trying to please will eventually despise you. Message Bible of Jer. 4 says ...Dressing up in party clothes, Decking yourselves out in jewelry, putting on lipstick and rouge and mascara! Your primping goes for nothing... I am not against make up. However, the Bible says let your moderation be known unto all MEN. You don't want to be a source of distraction, do you? You lead worship in church and the guys gaze is fixed on you...you think he's lost in worship?

As Christians, we don't live a competitive life. We are not competing with the world or with celebrities. The Bible says he made everything (including you) beautiful in its time. I know someone who spends an average of 45mins before her mirror every morning. Until you understand that with or without make-up, you are beautiful. You are the one making the make-up beautiful, not the other way round...alright?

Now, to my dear brothers, before you ask her out, to avoid stories that touch and surprises that shock, look intently at her, eyeball to eyeball and ask her this very important question in a loud and thunderous KJV tone... "IS THIS THY REAL FACE?"

Enjoy your day.
