TOPIC: WHY YOU NEED TO BE FRUITFUL.
TEXT: 2 PETER 1:5-8.
"And beside this,giving all diligence,add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ".
TEN REASONS WHY TITHING DOES NOT WORK FOR SOME PEOPLE:
1. They do not recognise God's provision when it comes: God's way of rewarding you may not be what you expect. It might be through deliverance or victory apart from monetary value.
2.It is not the first thing they give: It has to be the first because that shows you honour God (Neh 12:43-44).
3. It is not ten percent of their income.
4. It doesn't work because of unacceptable offerings.
THREE TYPES OF UNACCEPTABLE OFFERINGS:
a. Unrighteous life of the giver (Isa 1:11-17).
b. Secret worship of idols (Amos 5:22-27).
c. Not giving in proportion to what is received (2 Cor 8:12).
5. They do not have patience (Heb 10:36).
6. It doesn't work because of their negative confessions.
7. It doesn't work because of their wrong desires (James 4:2-3).
8. They are not at peace with their brethren (James 3:18).
9. It doesn't work because they have bad marital relationships.
10. It doesn't work because of hidden sins (Pr 28:13).
Tithe is the first of your increase not last of your surplus. It is the principal way God wants to use to bless and prosper you
"And we know that all things work together for good to them who love God and the called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).
