I called it an unconscious stupid mistake because we seem to desire a better outcome but unfortunately, our actions and decisions determine our outcome, whether good or bad.
The universal law operates every time. Whether we are conscious of it or not.
As long as the earth remains seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, shall not cease.
Gen 8:22
As long as the earth continues, there will always be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night on earth.”
This law applies to everybody. The seed in this scripture implies everything and anything. Every one of our actions are seeds. This is a sober truth and a bitter pill to swallow. But we have to swallow it all the same because it is the truth that will set free.
Embrace this truth and live your life conscious of this fact.
If we know every one of our actions are seeds, we will sit up and not sow wrong seeds into our marriage.
1. Not recognizing the power of oneness
The husband is the head of the marriage relationship so the onus is on him for what direction the family goes.
There is so much power in a husband and wife walking and working together as one.
2. The stupid mistake of not loving your wife.
Every woman needs wings to fly. Every husband should allow their wives to fly by loving them. You create a conducive environment for your wife to thrive.
Bible commands all husbands to love their wives. It's their responsibility to love their wives as much as Christ loves the church.
1 Pet 3:7
In the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in an understanding way, since they are weaker than you. You should show them respect, because God gives them the same blessing he gives you—the grace of true life. Do this so that nothing will stop your prayers from being heard.
3. The stupid mistake of going into any form of immorality and adultery.
One of the destroyers of the marriage covenant is immorality and adultery. It is capable of bringing down any marriage from whatever height it has been.
Proverbs calls it a stupid sin. It doesn't make sense because it can be prevented and avoided.
That's why the bible advises husbands to drink water from their own cistern. Husbands, don't listen to the strange woman's flattery and don't let her eyelashes catch you.
The home is destroyed, the children are exposed. It is no point.
4. The stupid sin of not being honest, open, and transparent with your wife.
There is a native proverb from where I am from, it says the dead body doesn't hide from the person to bury it.
Your wife is your covenant partner. I know that some wives also don't help matters. They betray the trust and cheat and do all sorts of abominable things. But all things being equal, the husband should know that he is expected to be all the way truthful.
5. The stupid mistake of oppressing your wife.
I am big on advocating against the oppression of wives and women.
Your wife was not giving to you for you to oppress. She is not to be trampled under your feet. God made a woman from the rib taken from the side of the husband. She has been configured by God to meet your deepest need. She occupies a vital place in your life.
She is supposed to be your helper. Most husbands are without help financially, spiritually, emotionally, physically. When you oppress your wife, you make her unable to fulfill her role as a helpmeet. Every husband needs help. The help you need is in your wife.
Treat her with dignity and honor and automatically she will protect you and your destiny shall be preserved.
Love her, cherish her, honor her, appreciate her, be sensitive to her and treat her well and she will be the best wife, function in her calling, and fulfill destiny.
God bless your marriage.
