Once upon a time... Peter and Paul were brothers. They did virtually everything together. From school to house chores, to church activities, they were usually seen together. They got a job offer one day, and as expected, they went together.
On their way, they met an old friend, a secondary school colleague who was so excited to see them after many years. He immediately offered to treat them to a nice restaurant. Peter declined, saying, they had to be on their way. However, Paul was able to convince him that they would spend just a little time. Eventually, they went.
To cut the story, they went late for their interview and lost the job.
Romans 12:3 (AMP) For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.
Avoid the road of comparison:
Even though they were brothers, they still had different destinies to fulfill. The Bible says those who compare themselves are not wise.
Avoid the road of wrong association:
Peter could have left but he didn't want to leave his brother behind. Who are you associated with? Are you of like minds? Are you both seeing things from the same perspective?
Avoid the road of uncertainty:
God is not an author of confusion. God has put you on a pedestal, don't create your own because you feel it will be faster or shorter.
Avoid the road of familiarity:
The fact that we grew up together does not mean we are a perfect match.
May God grant us understanding.
