This is in continuation of yesterday's devotional.
Our anchor scripture remains
Heb 13:4 (AMP)
Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste [ all guilty of sexual vice ] and adulterous.
3. Avoid spending time alone with people of the opposite sex
It is one thing to be tempted by the devil. It is another thing for you to tempt the devil. Don’t try to find out the consequences of spending time alone with the opposite sex. It is easier and less costly to learn by wisdom than by experience.
As a matter of principle, I do not counsel ladies behind closed doors.
Pastors, if you must counsel a lady, do it with doors open and with some of your staff members around.
To think that you are immune to these things is a gross mistake.
Jesus said he will make us fishers of men. If you decide to start frying the fishes you have caught by having an affair with those who you are supposed to take care of spiritually, you are endangering your life
When you spend too much time with that colleague of yours, and you gradually graduate from exchanging pleasantries to sharing deep emotional stuff, you are calling for trouble.
4. Do not act on feelings towards somebody else other than your spouse
Resist it with the help of the Holy Spirit and with all you’ve got.
Yes, there may be feelings, but never reveal such to the person involved. Rather, open up to your spouse.
Feelings do not last, so you cannot be ruled by feelings.
Take a look at the scriptures:
Rom 8:5-8 (AMP)
For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit. Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]. [That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God's Law; indeed it cannot. So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.
May God help you.
