I will show you six things that helped us navigate our courtship and brought us to marriage.
I hope you learn from it.

1. We loved God

Individually, we were God lovers and God chasers.

I always wanted to know more about God.
I always wanted to do my best to please him, so my heart went out for him.

When we met, it was a case of two people who were hungry for God.

The idea is, if we both love God more we will both be better persons.

2. We were sincere

We were real, genuine, and sincere about our weaknesses, strength, and meek enough to learn things we didn't know.

We were sincere about our need for God's help to see us through life and our courtship.

Dunamis was real enough to separate the love that pampers from the love that rebukes and disciplines. He loved me enough to correct when necessary.

I was also sincere enough to accept that courtship was a time of learning, submitting, and adjusting if our marriage was going to fulfill its purpose.

Our sincerity also helped us to confront temperamental weaknesses.

3. We never compromised sexually

Were there pressures? Definitely yes. Plenty of it.

I didn't understand how a man's body was wired. However, Dunamis helped a lot with his openness and sincerity. This made us set boundaries especially since we were always together most times.

We decided not to give in, no matter the pressure. We knew pre-marital sex was against God's will so were not ready to rationalize.

4. We prayed a lot

Dunamis was given to a lot of dreams, visions, and revelations. We knew there was something God had in mind for us, in the future.
We knew we had a sense of calling.
We knew we needed God. We prayed about everything.

We prayed the Pauline prayers, read all manner of books, made photocopies of books we could not buy with a major part of our allowances.

We were always at the school field, praying.
We studied, had daily confessions, did spiritual things together.

5. We were mentored

Age notwithstanding, we understood mentorship and spiritual authority.
We understood honor and knew how to stay connected.
We learnt all we could from authority figures around us and we and served wholeheartedly.

We avoided politics. We did every task placed before us without eye service or deceit. Not that we were all that spiritual, God just helped us.

6. We enjoyed God's Mercy and Help

Yes, God really helped us and showed us great mercy. We walked in certain things that we probably just stumbled upon, but it was actually the hand of God directing us. We enjoyed divine direction a lot too.

All in all, it's not of him that runneth but it is of God that showeth Mercy.

You too can enjoy that mercy today.

I pray for you, God's mercy will flow towards you. He will grant you all you need to fulfill purpose and destiny in Jesus name.
