6th Missional Community Meeting Programme

Theme: “Forgiveness in Relationships: Healing Starts with the Heart”

🕐 Meeting Duration: 60–75 minutes

🎯 Objective: To help people understand that forgiveness is not optional in godly relationships—it is vital for healing, growth, and lasting peace.

🔹 Programme Outline

  1. Welcome + Icebreaker – 10 mins
  2. Prompt: “Share one funny thing someone did that annoyed you but you had to forgive.”
  • Allow brief laughter and honest sharing.
  • Leader opens with prayer for peace and openness.
  1. Worship – 5 mins
  2. Suggested song: “I Surrender” or “Way Maker” – helps set a heart posture of humility and healing.
  3. Main Discussion: “Forgiveness in Relationships” – 30 mins
  4. Split into two powerful points:

✅ Part 1: Forgiveness Is Not a Feeling—It’s a Command

📖 Ephesians 4:31–32 – “Get rid of all bitterness... forgiving one another, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Leader reads aloud:

“Many of us wait to feel like forgiving—but Jesus didn’t wait. He forgave us while we were still sinners. Forgiveness is not about them, it’s about freeing your own heart from chains.”

Signs You Haven’t Forgiven:

  • You rehearse the offense in your mind
  • You avoid the person completely
  • You secretly want them to suffer

💬 Discussion Prompts:

  • Why is forgiveness so hard even when we know it’s right?
  • Have you ever forgiven someone who didn’t say sorry?

✅ Part 2: Forgiveness Heals You First

📖 Matthew 6:14–15 – “If you forgive others… your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Leader reads aloud:

“Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. But when you release others, God begins to heal you. Forgiveness sets the prisoner free—and that prisoner is you.”

Forgiveness is NOT:

  • Saying what they did was okay
  • Forgetting the pain
  • Trusting them again without wisdom

Forgiveness IS:

  • Letting go of vengeance
  • Inviting God to deal with the situation
  • Releasing yourself to grow

💬 Discussion Prompts:

  • What’s one relationship that needs healing in your life?
  • How do we start the process of forgiveness when we’re still hurting?
  1. Reflection – 5 mins
  2. Encourage quiet reflection:
  3. “Who do I need to forgive to move forward in peace?”
  4. Optional: Write it down or say a quiet prayer.
  5. Prayer Time – 10 mins
  6. Lead a heartfelt prayer for:
  • Healing from past wounds
  • Strength to forgive, even when it’s hard
  • Marriages, friendships, and families to be restored
  1. Fellowship – 10–15 mins
  2. End with relaxed interaction, snacks if possible, and warmth.
