The Investment of Spiritual Capital
Acts 1:8 reminds us:
"But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me..."
Now, here’s the key: The first investment God makes in every believer is spiritual capital. This isn’t financial wealth—it’s a potential ability, like crude oil waiting to be refined. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, He begins to “fractionate” this spiritual capital into powerful gifts and abilities.
This spiritual capital is installed capacity—like software downloaded onto your phone. It becomes one with your spirit. The Bible calls this the mingled spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17):
"Anyone joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him."
Think of it like mixing Coke and Fanta—it’s something entirely new! That’s what happens when the Holy Spirit dwells in you. You’re not just human anymore—you’re a new creation fused with divine potential.
The Power Dimension
Let’s break it down further:
- The spirit of God comes first.
- Then, as you grow in intimacy with the Holy Spirit, power manifests.
It’s like this: Imagine a mechanic in Nigeria who takes the engine of a Toyota and installs it in a Honda. On the outside, it still looks like a Honda—but under the hood, it performs like a Toyota! That’s what happens spiritually. Externally, you may not look different, but internally, you’ve been upgraded to operate in God’s power.
If you focus on building intimacy with the Holy Spirit—even half as much as you focus on your spouse—you’ll experience a supernatural connection. Why? Because the mingled spirit creates an intimacy stronger than any human relationship.
Why Many Believers Lack Power
Here’s the truth: If you don’t know the Holy Spirit, it’s not because He’s unavailable—it’s because you’re too focused on natural things. The enemy wants you to live a “carnal” life, disconnected from God’s supernatural realm. But guess what? The Holy Spirit is closer to you than you think. His operations are smeared all over your spirit—you can’t ignore Him if you try!
God desires for us to step into reality—the spiritual realm—not cling to the temporary things our senses perceive. So today, let’s make a decision: We’re migrating into the realm of power!
John the Baptist & the Spirit of Elijah
Luke 1:17 says John the Baptist would go before Christ “in the spirit and power of Elijah.” Notice the sequence:
- The spirit comes first.
- Then the power follows.
This means you must learn how to refine your spiritual capital through prayer, fasting, and obedience. Only then will you unlock the fullness of God’s power in your life.
Interestingly, while John operated fully in the spirit of Elijah, he didn’t fully walk in the power of Elijah. For example, he didn’t perform miracles like Elijah did. This shows us that having the Spirit isn’t enough—we must also pursue power to fulfill our calling.
How to Access Power
Jesus Himself modeled this process. After being baptized in the Holy Spirit, He went into the wilderness to fast and pray for 40 days. During this time, Satan showed up to test Him.
Here’s the lesson:
- Long fasting and prayer attract both God’s power AND Satan’s attention.
- Fasting weakens the flesh, making room for the Spirit to dominate.
When you fast and pray, you’re essentially saying, “I’m ready to be tested.” And when you pass the test, God certifies you for ministry in power.
So, if you’ve been baptized in the Holy Spirit, don’t stop there. Pursue power through spiritual discipline. Remember: Authority is relational, but power is ability-based. Both are essential for effective ministry.
Power vs. Authority
Let’s clarify the difference:
- Power = Ability to do work (e.g., casting out demons, healing the sick).
- Authority = Legitimacy to act on behalf of God’s kingdom.
In Matthew 21:23, the religious leaders asked Jesus, “By what authority doest thou these things?” They weren’t denying His miracles—they were questioning His legitimacy.
Imagine a nurse performing surgeries at home without a license. Even if the surgeries succeed, they’re unauthorized. Similarly, God gives believers power, but we must align ourselves with His authority to use it rightly.
Destroying the Enemy’s Legalities
Satan has power, but he has no legitimate authority. His only weapon is deception—he tries to secure a foothold in your life through sin, disobedience, or unbelief. But here’s the good news: You can destroy his power and dismantle his legalities using the blood of Jesus.
Tonight, we declare:
- “Satan, you have no authority!”
- “We destroy your power over sickness, pain, and affliction!”
Are you ready for this battle? Rise up and fight!
Testimonies of Healing
During the service, many experienced miraculous healings:
- Eyesight restored
- Tumors and growths dissolved
- Chronic pain vanished
- Hearing improved
These testimonies remind us that God is still in the business of miracles. All it takes is faith and obedience.
A New Season of Harvest
We’re in a season of enlargement and breakthrough. God is answering prayers, restoring lost blessings, and opening doors that seemed impossible to unlock.
If you’ve been struggling with doubt or unbelief, it’s time to surrender fully to God. Let Him transform you into a woman or man of faith.
An Invitation to Salvation
If you haven’t given your life to Jesus yet, now is the time. Don’t delay—respond to His call! Simply say this prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I accept that I’m a sinner. I cannot help myself. Have mercy on me, wash me in Your blood, write my name in the Book of Life, and give me the power to live for You all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen."
Welcome to the family of God!
Final Word: Step Into Your Destiny
Tomorrow morning, expect deployment! When God finishes preparing His servants, He sends them out to fulfill their purpose. Are you ready?
Remember: With men, these things may seem impossible—but with God, ALL things are possible.
